We had the immense pleasure this year of welcoming Sir Max Hastings, who delivered a fascinating talk on the Staffordshire Yeomanry’s involvement on and around a single beach: Sword. This included a personal portrait of the resilient tank colonel, Jim Eadie, whose tanks of the Staffordshire Yeomanry repulsed a Panzer division, and how the lives of those who fought were forever altered by the events of D-Day.
